AgreGtr Analysis
The ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi is a premium AM5 motherboard that receives overwhelmingly positive feedback for its build quality, power delivery, connectivity, and AI-assisted tuning features. The vast majority of buyers report stable, high-performance operation with no issues, praising the feature set as excellent value for a high-end build. One verified reviewer documents a serious hardware defect involving M.2 slots randomly failing or dropping to PCIe 1.0 speeds under XMP/EXPO memory profiles, a problem reportedly unresolved across multiple BIOS updates and acknowledged by ASUS support only with an RMA recommendation.
Pros & Cons
- Rock-solid power delivery and VRM design supports high-end CPUs including Ryzen 9000 series with stable overclocking
- Exceptional connectivity including PCIe 5.0, USB4, Wi-Fi 7, 2.5G Ethernet, and multiple fast M.2 slots
- AI Overclocking and AI Cooling tools simplify setup and produce stable, optimized results without manual trial-and-error
- Polished and intuitive BIOS with advanced features including Q-Code, BIOS FlashBack, and Bios Q dashboard
- Premium build quality with robust heatsinks, effective NVMe thermal management, and clean ROG Strix aesthetic
- M.2 slots 2 and 3 randomly disappear or drop to PCIe 1.0 speeds when XMP/EXPO memory profiles are enabled, unresolved across multiple BIOS updates
- Onboard audio (SupremeFX) disappoints at least one buyer who expected better quality given the board's price tier
- Memory training times for DDR5 can be slow during initial setup or profile changes
- Custom Armoury Crate software is divisive, with some users preferring simpler one-click update workflows from competing brands
- ASUS support defaulted to RMA as the only resolution for a persistent hardware defect, causing significant downtime inconvenience
