AgreGtr Analysis
The AirPods Max 2 receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, with customers consistently praising the exceptional sound quality, powerful active noise cancellation, and seamless Apple ecosystem integration. Audiophile reviewers note the headphones rival or surpass well-regarded competitors like the Audio Technica ATH-M50x in sound signature and dynamics. Minor criticisms center on weight, battery life capped at 20 hours, and the absence of wireless lossless audio at this premium price point.
Pros & Cons
- Exceptional sound quality with deep bass, clear mids and highs, and outstanding soundstage — praised by audiophiles as rivaling or exceeding the ATH-M50x
- Best-in-class active noise cancellation powered by H2 chip, with Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness working seamlessly
- Premium comfort with memory foam ear cushions, knit-mesh canopy, and telescoping arms for a customized fit
- Seamless Apple ecosystem integration with easy Bluetooth pairing, USB-C charging, and wired lossless audio support
- Exceptional Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos performance, especially for movies, described as theater-like immersion
- Heavier than competing headphones at 18.7 oz, which may be fatiguing for some users during extended or travel use
- Battery life limited to 20 hours with ANC, considered disappointing at this price tier compared to competitors offering 50 hours
- No wireless lossless audio (24-bit/96kHz) despite the premium price point
- No proper parametric EQ at the iOS system level, limiting fine-tuned sound customization
- Reported software bug causing headphones not to auto-connect properly when stored in the carrying case
