AgreGtr Analysis
The DeWalt 4.5-inch brushless cordless circular saw receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers who praise its compact size, light weight, and surprising power for a tool of its class. Users consistently highlight its versatility for everyday cutting tasks including drywall, plywood, fencing, and 2x material, often noting it has replaced their larger saws for most jobs. The main criticisms are minor, centered on the blade-change Allen wrench retention and the tool feeling unbalanced with smaller batteries.
Pros & Cons
- Compact and lightweight design makes it easy to maneuver in tight or awkward positions
- Powerful brushless motor handles 2x material, plywood, drywall, and fencing with ease
- Highly versatile — replaces a full-size saw for the majority of everyday cutting tasks
- Long battery life, especially with larger 6Ah or 9Ah batteries
- Moveable dust chute effectively directs sawdust away from the work area
- Allen wrench for blade changes barely snaps into place and is easily lost
- Saw can feel unbalanced or tilted when used with smaller batteries
- Considered pricey relative to its size by some reviewers
- Tool feels noticeably heavy for its category when battery is attached
- One user experienced an internal wire issue causing starting problems
