AgreGtr Analysis
Exploding Kittens is widely praised as a fun, fast-paced card game that's easy to learn and generates lots of laughter, with rounds typically lasting around 15 minutes. It appeals to a broad audience including families with kids, and expansion packs are well-received as meaningful additions. However, a segment of buyers are disappointed by the card quality, which shows wear quickly with repeated play, and some feel the price is high given the relatively simple, card-only format.
Pros & Cons
- Fast-paced rounds lasting about 15 minutes make it easy to fit into any occasion
- Very easy to learn, with players picking up the rules within a single round
- Generates consistent laughter and is entertaining for both kids and adults
- Expansion packs add new cards and mechanics that meaningfully extend replayability
- Works well in a variety of social settings including family game nights, camping trips, and parties
- Card quality is flimsy, with edges showing visible wear after fewer than a dozen plays
- Priced around $20, which some buyers consider overpriced for a simple deck of cards
- Base game card count feels limited, with some players wishing there were more cards
- NSFW version contains crude humor (e.g., bodily function jokes) that doesn't land for all players
- Best experienced with 3–4+ players; gameplay feels slow or less engaging with only 2
